Testing flocks

16 developers. 16 apps. 16 days of reciprocal testing with daily accountability.

What is a flock?

A flock is a fixed-size group of up to 16 Android developers, each with one listed app. When you join a flock, you commit to testing every other member's app daily for the duration of the flock's 16-day run.

In return, up to 15 other developers test your app — giving you more than enough testers to meet Google Play's 12 testers for 14 days requirement.

How flocks work

  • Join or create: Browse flocks with open slots and join one, or create your own and wait for members.
  • Pledge: When joining, you pledge to open and check in daily for all apps in the flock for 16 days.
  • Daily check-ins: Open each flock mate's app for at least 30 seconds. TestFlock verifies usage automatically.
  • Progress matrix: See a visual grid of who checked in each day — green, orange, or red.
  • Feedback: Leave feedback after check-ins. Earn plain eggs for showing up and golden eggs when feedback is rated helpful.
  • Approve: Review and approve check-ins and feedback from your flock mates.

Why 16 members?

Sixteen is the sweet spot: large enough to exceed Google's 12-tester minimum (with 15 fellow developers testing your app), small enough that daily testing all apps is manageable on a single device.

Flocks vs FlyMates

Flocks are group-based reciprocal testing. FlyMates are 1:1 partnerships for when you need extra developers outside your flock or want a dedicated testing relationship with a specific developer.
